  We Got Your Back

Share our Strengths, an organization committed to addressing child hunger, released a report stating that the top three issues teachers face in the classroom are child hunger, lack of schools supplies and behavior issues. All three issues affect academic performance. If a child is hungry he or she cannot focus on learning and if they don’t have adequate school supplies then they are not equipped to perform in the classroom.

We Got your Back calls on people of faith across the country to support the academic success of children by making a contribution to purchase and deliver schools supplies for children in high needs schools.

In 2011 Faith for Change Provided school supplies for over 3000 high needs children attending our partner schools in the following cities: Dallas, TX, Decatur, GA, Chicago, IL, Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, Cleveland, OH, Oklahoma City, OK, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL

“Opportunity Nation is a unique cross-partisan, cross-sector campaign committed to expanding economic opportunity and mobility. We believe high-quality education, including high school completion, is a necessary step on the path to the American Dream. Believing that all sectors, including communities of faith, have a strong role to play in supporting the academic excellence of our students, we are thrilled to support the Graduation Ministry Toolkit. This is a wonderful resource and we commend Faith for Change for developing such an empowering tool; we look forward to many people of faith using it as they seek to reduce the dropout rate in their local communities.”

  The SWAG Campaign

The SWAG campaign is a national education public relations campaign with the goal of promoting academic excellence and motivation for students to pursue academic success, by using the popular term – SWAG.

SWAG (swah-ag) adj. – People use the term SWAG to associate it with someone that exhibits “overall confidence, style, demeanor and reputation.

Our goal is to use this term and expand the definition to include academic excellence as something young people should aspire to attain in order to increase their “swag.” Thus, we use SWAG as an acronym for “Student With A Goal.”

  Blueprint for Success
The objective of the Blueprint for Success workbook is to help students create a plan to achieve the vision for their lives. This workbook and its contents are designed for students to assess every aspect of their lives: relationships with family, friends, school, and their community and local organizations to show them how their social interactions will play an important role in helping them fulfill their life’s purpose.

We created the Blueprint for Success workbook to reinforce the belief that no matter what a young person goes through, no matter the obstacles that seem to stand in their way, or whatever they have been led to believe about themselves, the truth is that they are already good enough to achieve their dreams. Our goal is to work with students and show them through the results they achieve from hard work, that they already have what it takes to make the purpose for their lives a reality.
